The Week of January 18, 2015

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the late post.  I had some rather large reports to complete over the weekend and it wasn't long enough to get the blog in until now!

Besides today (Monday),  there is no school on Friday because of Staff Development

Tuesday:
6th Grade Honor Roll Breakfast:   7:30 to 8:30 am  --MPR

Wednesday:
7th Grade Honor Roll Breakfast:  7:30 to 8:30 am
--MPR

Thursday:
8th Grade Honor Roll Breakfast:  7:30 to 8:30 am
--MPR

Friday:
NO School for students:

Also.... we have had some intermittent issues with our data base over the last couple of weeks and there is a possibility that you might not have been contacted for the Honor Roll Breakfasts:   If you think you are either an Honor Roll recipient 3.0 to 3.99 GPA, or Principal's List 4.0 and/or had perfect attendance, please contact the office so we can get your students taken care of.  Thanks, Mr. CL

I apologize again about the brevity of the Blog this week, but I'll make up for it next (I have a lot of neat stuff I want to show you!)

That's all for now, Mr. CL

The Week of January 12, 2015

Welcome to the Week of January 12th!
The next three information bits may suspiciously look like a repeat from last week (it is!)  But it bears repeating!

Brownell activities include:

  • ·        And…after the high school information nights on the 2nd

Honor Roll Breakfasts for 1st Semester!
We will be having our annual Honor Roll Breakfasts on:
  • January 20th—6th grade,

  • 22nd –8th grade.

The event(s) will be from 7:30 to 8:30 am.  We will be giving out Principal Awards (4.0 GPA), Honor Roll (3.0 GPA) and awards for Perfect Attendance.   Teachers will be working on grades on January 5th and Report Cards will be sent out by the following week.  All families of awarded students will be notified!

“How’s my driving?”
Before the winter break we placed customer service comment cards on our front desk in the Main office along with a nice box to put them in.  These are the same cards that are used by all other schools in the district.   We invite you to fill one out whether you have a complaint, concern or praise on how we are doing in the customer service department.   We know we have work to do and we are making customer service a priority.   Please fill one out the next time you visit the campus.   All cards are sent to the District office for their information.  –Thank you

The Week of January 5, 2015

______________________________________________

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

The year "Back to the Future" foretold we would have hover skateboards!   We'll not yet...

But... if you go to this site you will see we are getting close!

Did you know?
We have around 1800 parents in our Brownell Community, but less than 0.5% attend the Parent Club meetings?   I know we can do better than that!  The Parents who do participate at the meetings work very diligently to see that fundraisers are organized and funds are raised to see that students and teachers have the resources they need to help all students learn.   The next Meeting is January 14th at 7:00pm in the Library.

Did you know?  8th Grade
In order for an 8th grade student to participate in the Promotion Ceremony, 8th grade promotion dance and field trip, they must pass each class with a D average or better for the year. The yearly grade is the average of 1st semester and 2nd semester grades in each of their classes, including Physical Education and electives. Also, if any 8th grade student is suspended for even one day in the 4th quarter they will lose their privileges.  One semester is complete and we now begin semester 2.   We have after school tutoring, and lunch time bear den time to keep up on school work.  Hang in there 8th graders you can make it!
